Phil Redo

Phil Redo is the General Manager for all WGBH Radio properties as well as local news content on WGBH Television and WGBHNews.ORG. Redo also represents WGBH’s interests in two national radio co-productions, The World and The Takeaway, both distributed by Public Radio International.
Redo has a 35-year radio career in both public and commercial broadcasting. He was Vice President for programming and production at Premiere Radio Networks in New York City and has been Vice President and General Manager for commercial radio stations in New York and Chicago owned by Viacom and in Boston, where he managed the five-station cluster owned by Greater Media. His public radio experience includes 5 years as Vice President for Station Operations and Corporate Strategy at WNYC AM and FM.
Redo joined WGBH full time in June 2011 after consulting the Foundation in the purchase of Boston classical station, WCRB. In the fall of 2009, he helped execute the launch of the both WCRB and a newly imagined news and information format on WGBH.
He has on-air experience in news, talk and music hosting. Radio Inc Magazine named him Air Personality of the Year Billboard Magazine in 1978 and top Major Market General Manager for three years in a row 2007-2009.
