Candy Capel

WVAS, Montgomery

Candy Capel is the Station Manager of WVAS-FM, licensed to Alabama State University in Montgomery.  Prior to her return to WVAS-FM in 2006 (this is her third stint with the station), Ms. Capel served as the grants administrator in the City of Montgomery’s Community Development Office.  In this capacity, she was responsible for the administration of all U. S. Department of Housing (HUD) funding awarded to the City.

Other positions held by Ms. Capel include manager of an international customer service center for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP; development director for the Pacifica Foundation’s KPFK-FM; assistant director of the statewide Alabama Reunion; and, former gubernatorial appointee to the State of Alabama’s Office of Minority Business Enterprise.

She is a member of the National Federation of Community Broadcaster’s Governance Committee and she holds an At-Large position on the Executive Committee of Eastern Region Public Media.  Ms. Capel is a proud graduate of both Leadership Montgomery and the Delta Leadership Institute.
